Football: Edison passing tournament is Saturday
- Share via
If you can’t wait seven weeks until the high school football season officially begins, Saturday’s Edison passing tournament should get your excitement going.
The seven on seven competition brings together a number of top teams, including St. John Bosco, Corona Centennial, Bishop Amat and Narbonne, among others.
Here’s the link to the schedule that begins at 9 a.m.
There are many top players in the tournament, from Santa Margarita quarterback K.J. Costello to Centennial receiver Javon McKinley, but there could be players arriving late or not playing depending on when they come back from The Opening held this week in Oregon.
One of the best matchups has Bishop Amat taking on Mater Dei at 11 a.m. on field No. 5. It could be a Pac-5 playoff preview, where Bishop Amat receivers Trevon Sidney and Tyler Vaughns try to get loose against a good Mater Dei secondary if Sidney and Vaughns make it back from Oregon.
Another intriguing matchup has Mission League foes Gardena Serra and Loyola playing at 9 a.m. on field No. 8.
The championship final is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Admission is free.
