Football: Salesian is surprise last team alive from the Angelus League

Who can explain why Los Angeles Salesian has made it to the semifinals of the Southeast Division playoffs while fellow Angelus League schools St. Francis and Cathedral have been eliminated?
“I’m at a Catholic school, so it’s got to be God,” Coach Angelo Jackson said.
Salesian (6-6) lost to Cathedral, 58-20, and lost to St. Francis, 46-15. But the Mustangs also got a great playoff draw. They upset No. 2-seeded La Mirada, 24-18, in their opener. They routed Burbank, 48-27, last week, and on Friday night, they play at Downey in a semifinal game.
“We had a lot of injuries and got everybody back, so that made a big difference,” Jackson said.
Leading Salesian’s playoff surge has been 6-foot-5, 280-pound defensive tackle Kevin Scott, who has been getting double teamed and creating opportunities for others.
Quarterback Damion Wright has gotten healthy and given a boost to the offense.
