Football: St. John Bosco is ready to turn loose its Australian rugby player
- Share via
There’s a secret weapon St. John Boscoo will have on defense this fall, but it won’t be a secret for very long.
Brent LeRoux, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound senior rugby player from Australia who’s never played football before, could be a major contributor at defensive end. At least the Braves are very excited what he might be able to accomplish.
Coach Jason Negro believes he could be a “special player.”
Australia has sent plenty of talented basketball players to the United States, a few baseball players and punters for football.
Rugby players are pretty athletic and versatile, so it will be interesting to see LeRoux rushing the passer and educating his teammates about “shrimp on the barbie.”
