Miami Marlins put Christian Yelich on disabled list

Miami Marlins outfielder Christian Yelich has been placed on the 15-day disabled left because of a bruised right knee, and outfielder Marcell Ozuna has been recalled from triple-A New Orleans.
Yelich’s move was retroactive to Monday and made before Saturday’s game at St. Louis.
Ozuna was demoted to the minors July 5 after struggling the first half of the season, batting .249 with four homers. He hit 23 homers last year. Yelich, who is batting .275, was on the DL earlier this year because of a strained back.

The Oakland Athletics have recalled pitchers Pat Venditte and Dan Otero from Triple-A Nashville.
Venditte can throw with either hand and Otero is a right-hander. Both previously appeared with Oakland this season.
Venditte made his major league debut on June 5, becoming the first ambidextrous pitcher to play in the majors since Greg Harris in 1995. Venditte made four appearances before going on the disabled list with a strained right shoulder.
To make room, Oakland optioned right-hander Aaron Brooks to Nashville and designated lefty Brad Mills for assignment.

The Seattle Mariners recalled right-hander Danny Farquhar from triple-A Tacoma.
