City College of San Francisco defeats Saddleback, 26-14, for junior college championship

SAN FRANCISCO — Namane Modise rushed for 253 yards and two touchdowns as City College of San Francisco wrapped up the state junior college football championship Saturday with a 26-14 victory over Saddleback.
Modise, a 5-foot-8 freshman speedster from Castro Valley High, carried 37 times and had touchdown runs of one and five yards for the Rams (12-1), who took a 26-0 lead and held off the Gauchos (10-2), who got two touchdown passes from Johnny Stanton to Dominic Collins in the fourth quarter.
Collins caught 11 passes for 159 yards and Stanton completed 28 of 47 passes for 303 yards and ran for 42 yards. But Rams quarterback Anthony Gordon was an efficient 20 of 26 and also threw a pair of touchdown passes.
San Francisco also sacked Stanton four times.
