Mark Buehrle can live in Toronto, but his dog can’t

Poor Mark Buehrle. Wherever he goes, his dog Slater is not welcome.
When Buehrle signed with the Miami Marlins before the 2012 season, he couldn’t live in Miami because Dade County, which includes Miami, has banned pit bulls from the area. Slater is a pit bull.
Buehrle, his wife and two kids lived in nearby Broward County so he could keep Slater as a pet. And because he had signed a four-year, $58-million deal with the Marlins, he could pretty much afford the commute.
On Tuesday, Buehrle became part of a mega 12-player trade that sent him to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Good news, you might think. Finally, the Buehrle family and Slater can find happiness closer to the ballpark.
Not so fast.
In 2005, the province of Ontario banned pit bulls. Meaning the closest place in Canada, the Buehrle family could live and keep Slater is Montreal, which is 300 miles away.
Whoops.
Does anyone out there want to adopt a pit bull?
