Lakers guard/forward Nick Young received a flop warning from the NBA on Thursday.
Young, who made his season debut Tuesday after a thumb injury, helped the Lakers to a 114-109 win over the Atlanta Hawks (5-5), just their second victory of the season.
Young drew a foul on Atlanta’s Kyle Korver while attempting a three-pointer in the left corner. The replay showed that Korver did not make contact with Young, who landed on his backside and slid out of bounds after taking the shot.
NBA.com posted video of the play.
After a warning, the NBA will fine a player $5,000 for a second flop violation. Additional flops result in an increasing penalty, including eventual suspension.
Through two games, Young is averaging 16.4 points a night, second on the team to Kobe Bryant’s 27.5.
The Lakers defeated the Houston Rockets (9-3) on Wednesday to improve to 3-9, but a perfect 2-0 since Young returned to the lineup. They’ll next visit the Dallas Mavericks (9-3) on Friday.
