Melquise Stovall, committed to USC, has eyes on Alabama in 2016

reporting from Beaverton, Ore. — USC will open the 2016 season against Alabama at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and running back Melquise Stovall is already eyeing the matchup.

Stovall, who is committed to USC’s 2016 recruiting class, said that the goal for his freshman season was to play against the Crimson Tide.

“Hopefully I get in and at least, if not start, at least get into the rotation,” Stovall said at the Opening.

The 5-foot-8, 179-pound Stovall from Lancaster Paraclete High will have his work cut out for him.

Running back Justin Davis will be a senior in 2016 and Aca’Cedric Ware, Ronald Jones and Dominic Davis will each have a year of experience in the program.

At the Opening, Stovall mostly played running back but also took reps at defensive back during one-on-one drills, nearly intercepting a pass.

“I am versatile,” Stovall said. “I can play slot, DB, anywhere. Hopefully I can come out here and prove that to everyone.”
