A royal break on high London lodging prices?

London has a couple of center-of-the-universe moments on the horizon. First, the Wedding of the Millennium -- William and Kate -- on April 29. Then, in 2012, the Summer Olympics. Think hotel prices will be through the roof? In London, they’re always through the roof.
The deal: Check out what Coach House Rentals might do for you. The broker of 70 private residences has vowed to cap increases for the Royal Wedding at 20%. The event, which is on a Friday, has generated high demand for the long weekend of April 28-30, but the company says it still has accommodations. A house in Chelsea, with two double bedrooms and two bathrooms, sleeping four people, will cost $2,600 for a rental from April 24-30 ($93 a person a night). A flat in Battersea, with views over London, with two double bedrooms and one bathroom, sleeping four, will cost $1,520 for the week, or $54 a person a night.
Tested: A check of the website showed plenty of properties available during the period of the Royal Wedding in late April, but with the disclaimer that Coach House still would have to check with their owners to confirm availability. It also noted that all properties have a designated minimum stay – usually five nights but sometimes seven.
