Reporting from Kabul, Afghanistan — Four Taliban militants attacked a heavily fortified housing complex for foreigners in eastern Kabul on Wednesday before being killed by security forces, Afghan authorities said.
There were no initial reports of casualties among civilians and military personnel at the Green Village, which houses military personnel and civilian contractors.
In a series of online messages, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said his organization was responsible for attack. Mujahid said an explosives-laden truck struck near the gates of the compound, followed by gunfire between Taliban fighters and guards.
Interior Ministry officials confirmed the attack but offered no casualty figures beyond the deaths of the attackers.
The assault marks the third time in as many years that the Green Village has been targeted.
