California State University, Northridge, on Friday will host a conference on “What’s Right With Education.”
Students, teachers, professors, parents and politicians will gather to discuss positive aspects of education. Besides workshops and seminars, 27 teachers, working in a classroom environment with their students, will demonstrate model lessons from early childhood education through adult school. Classes that conference attendees can watch include reading, math, music, bilingual, computer, physics and occupational training.
Terrel Bell, former U.S. secretary of education; Louis Fischer, associate to the chancellor at the University of Massachusetts, and Nel Noddings, author of “Caring: A Feminine Approach to Ethics and Moral Education,” will be the featured speakers at the conference.
Recruiters from Southern California school districts also will attend the conference. Panel discussions will focus on how parents can help with their children’s education and how to get a California teaching credential.
The conference will take place at the CSUN Student Union.
