Yale Will Present Wilbur Cross Medals to 5 U.S. Educators

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Yale University will award its Wilbur Cross Medals for outstanding achievement in professional life to five prominent educators during commencement exercises today, the school announced Thursday.
The recipients are former Yale English Prof. Eugene M. Waith, University of Texas at Austin President Peter T. Flawn, Princeton University language and literature Prof. Victor H. Brombert, University of Chicago nuclear physicist John P. Schiffer and University of California at Berkeley political science Prof. Nelson W. Polsby.
The medals are named in memory of Wilbur Cross, a Yale dean who went on to be governor of Connecticut from 1931 to 1939.
