A new Brea-Olinda High School, complete with a swimming pool, football stadium, baseball field, tennis courts, auditorium and two gymnasiums, is expected to be completed by the fall of 1987.
While officials continue to negotiate on the $20- to $25-million project proposed for a 50-acre lot east of the 57 Freeway and north of Lambert Road, a development is under way at the site adjacent to the present high school on Birch Street, said Carol Amsler, Brea-Olinda Unified School District spokeswoman.
Lowe Development Corp. of Los Angeles will develop the land adjacent to the high school until officials build the new one.
Eventually, the developers plan a commercial area with offices, restaurants and some retail stores for the 39 acres of the current Brea-Olinda High School site.
