Local News in Brief : More College Funds Than Expected

Officials of the Los Angeles Community College District happily announced Wednesday that their budget for 1988-89 will be $12 million larger than anticipated in June. The main reason is increased state funding due to higher enrollment last spring.

The $276.2-million budget unanimously approved Wednesday somewhat eased fears that big cuts in programs would have to be made. However, officials warned that the district is still about $1 million short to keep operations at last year’s level.
