Here’s Where They Catch Up on Reading

“Catching Up on Their Reading” (Nov. 15) was a very comprehensive study of the literacy problem and indicated how carefully the problem was researched by Beverly Beyette.
All of us in literacy work wish there were more articles like this one. The Times, of course, has been a leader in the effort to eradicate illiteracy in its area by the establishment of its reading lab.
The article failed to mention where the three featured adult learners receive their instruction. Robert Mendez and George Mooneyham are in our program. Our council has been dealing with adult illiteracy for 16 years. Diana Davis received her instruction from the Whittier Area Literacy Council.
