Community College Enrollment Increases

Enrollment figures this fall are the highest they have been in three years at both the Santa Ana and Orange campuses of the Rancho Santiago Community College District, officials said Friday.
“It’s a dramatic increase,” said Harold H. Bateman, dean of enrollment services. “We’re way up--13%.”
As of the first day of school Monday, the count was 21,910. Bateman said students still are enrolling in classes, and a final count will be made at the close of registration next week. He projects about 23,000 students will be enrolled in the 2,089 classes offered this semester.
Bateman attributed the rise to more class offerings, which were made possible through more funding over the past two years.
