School Board to Weigh 2 Major Issues Today
- Share via
Students and teachers may be on vacation, but the Laguna Beach Unified School District board will meet today to discuss two major issues: the impact of development along Newport Coast and Supt. Reed Montgomery’s unpaid leave of absence.
School trustees are under a Jan. 30 deadline to decide whether to enroll almost 400 additional students from houses being built by the Irvine Co. At today’s meeting, trustees will consider asking for a 90-day extension, until April 30, to decide.
The board also will provide an update on Montgomery, who has been off work since Dec. 5 for medical reasons. Trustees have declined his request for a paid medical leave.
The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the school district’s office at 550 Blumont St., Laguna Beach.
