Public Asked to Help Select School Official

Simi Valley school officials are inviting residents to help them search for a new superintendent.
Headhunters from the California School Boards Assn. will be meeting with the public on Wednesday and April 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the district office, 875 E. Cochran St.
Also on April 20, residents can offer their comments at Royal High School, 1402 E. Royal Ave., from 7 to 8 p.m.
Trustees from the Simi Valley Unified School District are looking for a permanent replacement to fill the spot left by Dan Flynn in February.
Flynn was forced to resign after three months on the job, when three board members voted that he hadn’t earned their trust. Flynn was hired without community involvement, as he was the only candidate interviewed for the job before a nationwide search could be conducted.
This time, trustees have said they want to ask the community what they want in a schools chief.
To make an appointment, call Kathy Bartik at 520-6506. Written comments are also accepted.
