Less than two weeks after winning California Teacher of the Year, Monroe High School teacher Louis Chappelear led his students to victory Saturday in a robotics competition at Cal State Northridge.
The Robotroopers, a six-student team that built and controlled the Robot Destroyer, won the regional “FIRST Tech Challenge,” sponsored by the group For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. The students teamed up with Beverly Hills High School and Poway High School students in the final rounds. Monroe students will travel to Georgia in April for the national competition.
